Peter was born on Vancouver Island, and grew up beside and in Glen Lake near Victoria. He first paddled when he was six, in an eleven foot by 16 inch wide open kayak his dad built. His love of canoeing began when he was lifeguard at a church camp on Thetis Island. After his first piano and his first stereo, the canoe was the other major purchase he and his wife made after graduating from college. He has paddled the inland waters from Victoria to Campbell River and most places in between, as well as countless lakes in B. C. and Washington State.
